Somerset Christian College Opens New Somerset Site

Release Date: February 18, 2013

Somerset Christian College (SCC) announces the opening of its new instructional site in Somerset County, eighteen months after flooding from Hurricane Irene forced the evacuation and eventual abandonment of its original campus in Zarephath.  “The College held classes in Zarephath for 103 years, and we are ecstatic to be launching our new Somerset site so close to our original home,” said Dr. David Schroeder, President of SCC.  “The new site is really fantastic, and I’m just so happy for our students and our faculty that they can enjoy this wonderful new facility.”

The new site is located at 600 Apgar Dr. in Somerset in the same building that houses Star 99.1 FM, a sister organization to SCC.  While searching for a new site, the College has held classes at Stonecrest Community Church in Warren.  “We have an amazing story of God’s grace and provision to share,” said President Schroeder.  “The flood could have meant the end of SCC.  Instead, in the last 18 months since Irene we have expanded our Newark campus, launched new academic programs, and set an enrollment record.  Now we’ve come full circle and created a great new site in Somerset County.  We’re back, and we’re stronger than ever!”

The College is hosting an Open House and Ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, February 20 beginning at 5:15 p.m.  The public is welcome to attend.

Somerset Christian College educates, inspires and equips students for excellent scholarship, service and leadership with academic programs in Biblical Studies, Psychology and Counseling and Business Administration and Management.  SCC has educational sites in Newark and Somerset New Jersey.
