  • Building Department 
    • Addresses all matters concerning buildings; both exterior and interior
    • Permits (5 sub-codes: Building, Electrical, Fire Protection, Mechanical,Plumbing, Inspections, Certificate of Occupancy/Continuing Certificate of Occupancy
  • Engineering                                                                    
    •  Deals with property issues other than buildings such as paving (roads, parking lots, driveways) and impervious coverage, sidewalks and curbs, storm water run-off (detention/retention basins), sewers, curb cuts, utilities, road openings, site triangles, etc.
    • Holds pre-construction meetings
    • Issues permits, sets up bond and escrow accounts, does inspections, approves CO's
  • Fire Safety
    • Conducts Inspections
  • Health
    • Handles inspections as well as issues permits related to health (i.e. - food safety for restaurants and food stores) and environmental matters 
  • Planning
    • Works with the Planning Board on Land Use and Sign ordinances, the Master Plan, site plan approvals and bulk variance applications.  The Township Planner is available to discuss projects with property owners, developers, renters before they go to the Planning Board for their approval.
  • Police
    • Deal with traffic safety matters and background checks for liquor, massage and event licenses.
  • Tax Assessment
    • Evaluates commercial property for tax purposes including farmland designation.
  • Township Administrator
    • License Applications - Limousines/Taxis, Liquor, Massage Businesses/Therapists
    • Meetings Information - Township boards, commissions, committees
  • Zoning 
    • Makes the final determination whether a new business is an approved business use based on where the business owner wants to have their business located.  Works with the Zoning Board of Adjustment on use (and bulk) variance applications. 
    • Issues sign permits and works with the Sign review Committee on waiver applications.
